We started our activities in 1990, as a boutique specializing in tax matters. Our practice, initially very focused, drew from the wide experience of our founding partners in the tax area, particularly that of José Maurício Machado, who had been previously the partner in charge of the tax department of a large international audit and consulting firm.

 

Over two decades of hard work, our team has grown and our practice areas have diversified. We currently rely on about 150 people, and work with the main areas of Business Law, representing both domestic and foreign companies of all sizes from a wide range of industries.

 

Our growth has always been sustained and aligned with the needs of our clients; growing was never a goal by itself, but rather a natural consequence of our work. For us, having the best team is more important than having the largest one.

 

Since our foundation, we have set as a guiding principle “to do only what we do well”. Our main offices are located in São Paulo, and we rely on a branch in Brasília and correspondent law firms across Brazil, which allows us to assist our clients in all other states. We also rely on an associate firm in Chicago, which supports us in international matters and transactions, particularly with foreign investors interested in Brazil and with Brazilian clients with business and investments overseas.

 

Owing to our intense involvement in international matters, we lead the “Latin American Tax & Legal Network – Lataxnet”, an international network of top ranked firms specializing in legal and tax matters in Latin America, Canada and the Caribbean. What makes Lataxnet unique is that it affords us the opportunity of working on and coordinating projects in several areas, simultaneously, in almost every country of Latin America.
